Virtualine bulletproof hosting domain (virtualine.net) seized by FBI over cybercrime support
Severity: medium · Patch status: no-fix-needed · Since 2026-10-30
The FBI seized virtualine.net, the domain of Russian-speaking bulletproof hosting provider Virtualine, which emerged on the Exploit forum in 2024 (claiming operation since 2019). Per court documents and TRM Labs, Virtualine hosted phishing, spam, carding, malware and botnet infrastructure, ignored abuse complaints, helped customers evade takedowns, hosted illicit explicit content, and supported a hack-for-hire customer. Its labeled Bitcoin addresses received most funds from a Russian drug marketplace (44%), a sextortion scheme (17%), a crypto mixer (13%) and ransomware (5%), and in 2026 from StealC infostealer operators. TRM notes a domain seizure disrupts customer access but does not by itself stop the operator or underlying infrastructure. No vendor fix applies; defenders should treat related criminal infrastructure as potentially still active.
What to do
- Block and monitor virtualine.net and related Virtualine/Secury/Massgod/Spamhouse/Lanedo/Omegatech infrastructure and ASNs in threat-intel feeds
- Hunt for historical communications or traffic tied to Virtualine-hosted phishing, StealC or ransomware infrastructure
- Review logs for indicators from TRM Labs' Virtualine labeling and share with ISACs/law enforcement
- Maintain vigilance for the service re-emerging on new domains or infrastructure
