LBB data breach: 39K accounts exposed
Severity: medium · Patch status: no-fix-needed · Since 2023-03-05
In August 2022, customer data of the Indian shopping site "LBB" (Little Black Book) was posted to a popular hacking forum. The data contained over 3M records with 39k unique email addresses alongside IP and physical addresses, names and device information with the most recent data dating back to early 2019. LBB advised they believe the data was exposed by a third party service and whilst it contained information they retain on their customers, it had also been enriched with additional data attributes. Exposed data: browser user agent details, email addresses, ip addresses, names, physical addresses. The breach dates from Feb 14, 2019; Have I Been Pwned loaded it on Mar 5, 2023.
What to do
- If you had a LBB account, change its password and the password of any other account that reused it.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Check whether your addresses are in this breach at https://haveibeenpwned.com.
- Expect targeted phishing that quotes the leaked details; verify any unexpected contact out of band.
