hemmelig.com data breach: 28K accounts exposed

In December 2011, Norway's largest online sex shop hemmelig.com was hacked by a collective calling themselves "Team Appunity". The attack exposed over 28,000 usernames and email addresses along with nicknames, gender, year of birth and unsalted MD5 password hashes. Exposed data: email addresses, genders, nicknames, partial dates of birth, passwords, usernames. The breach dates from Dec 21, 2011; Have I Been Pwned loaded it on Mar 25, 2014.
What to do
- If you had a hemmelig.com account, change its password and the password of any other account that reused it.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Check whether your addresses are in this breach at https://haveibeenpwned.com.
- Expect targeted phishing that quotes the leaked details; verify any unexpected contact out of band.
