Gemplex data breach: 4.6M accounts exposed

In February 2021, the Indian streaming platform Gemplex suffered a data breach that exposed 4.6M user accounts. The impacted data included device information, names, phone numbers, email addresses and bcrypt password hashes. Exposed data: device information, email addresses, names, passwords, phone numbers. The breach dates from Feb 18, 2021; Have I Been Pwned loaded it on Dec 9, 2023.
What to do
- If you had a Gemplex account, change its password and the password of any other account that reused it.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Check whether your addresses are in this breach at https://haveibeenpwned.com.
- Expect targeted phishing that quotes the leaked details; verify any unexpected contact out of band.
