Gamerzplanet data breach: 1.2M accounts exposed

In approximately October 2015, the online gaming forum known as Gamerzplanet was hacked and more than 1.2M accounts were exposed. The vBulletin forum included IP addresses and passwords stored as salted hashes using a weak implementation enabling many to be rapidly cracked. Exposed data: email addresses, ip addresses, passwords, usernames. The breach dates from Oct 23, 2015; Have I Been Pwned loaded it on Feb 5, 2016.
What to do
- If you had a Gamerzplanet account, change its password and the password of any other account that reused it.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Check whether your addresses are in this breach at https://haveibeenpwned.com.
- Expect targeted phishing that quotes the leaked details; verify any unexpected contact out of band.
