ECCIE data breach: 536K accounts exposed

In January 2021, the adult escort forum ECCIE suffered a data breach which was later posted to a popular hacking forum. The data included 536k user records with email and IP addresses, usernames, dates of birth and salted MD5 password hashes. Exposed data: dates of birth, email addresses, ip addresses, passwords, usernames. The breach dates from Jul 1, 2021; Have I Been Pwned loaded it on Aug 21, 2023.
What to do
- If you had a ECCIE account, change its password and the password of any other account that reused it.
- Turn on multi-factor authentication wherever it is offered.
- Check whether your addresses are in this breach at https://haveibeenpwned.com.
- Expect targeted phishing that quotes the leaked details; verify any unexpected contact out of band.
