Crime-as-a-Service investment fraud platform provider busted in multinational operation
Severity: medium · Patch status: no-fix-needed · Since 2026-11-03
Europol and Eurojust supported a multinational operation led by Germany's Itzehoe Public Prosecutor's Office against a company allegedly supplying fraudulent trading platforms and victim leads to investment scam call centers. Actions in Albania, Cyprus, Finland, Germany, Israel, Kosovo, and North Macedonia included searches at 17 locations (including a Kosovo call center), seizure of more than 100 servers, and seven arrests. The scheme used fake ads and affiliate marketing to lure victims into phony crypto, forex, and stock trading platforms, where fake profits and social engineering extracted escalating deposits; estimated losses exceed €4 million across 50+ countries. The investigation began in 2022 after a German couple reported being unable to withdraw funds, with prior action days in 2022 and 2025. Disruption is temporary unless operators are arrested, experts note.
What to do
- Warn finance and fraud teams about fake trading-platform investment scams and social-engineering call-center tactics
- Block and monitor domains/infrastructure associated with fraudulent trading platforms surfaced by this operation
- Educate employees and customers that early 'profits' on trading platforms are a hallmark of investment fraud
- Report suspected investment fraud to national authorities/Europol to support ongoing investigations
